Jobs in Making the Film

There are lots of jobs involved when making a film but because this is only an opening sequence I am going to focus on 2. These are the camera operator and the Director. I have chosen these two jobs because they are the ones that me and my group will be doing.

Camera operator
This person is in charge of operating the camera. They are responsible for the composition of the shots and the different angles and movement the camera might need to do. The camera operator collaborates with the direct to ensure the angles and movement are what the director wants in the film at certain points. They will also work with other crew members for creative and technical decisions. Important camera operating skills are framing shots and the ability to know what lenses to use for certain shots.

Director
The director is responsible for overseeing the creative aspects of the film under the producer. They are the one who carries out their vision ensuring everything and everyone in the film looks perfect and all the shots are suitable for the scene taking place. Film directors are responsible for the control for camera angles, lens effects and lighting. They are the ones who key crew members and they work closely with them throughout the production. They are also a key member in the editing process as well ensuring that all shot reflect the mood of them film and to make sure things like colour of the shot is good and they can add warmth to the shot to fit the mood of the shot and of the film.
